![]() ![]() ![]() Thanx ahead of time fellas, I'll be back during my lunch break. I'd like a little bit of input, brainstorm, or recommendations before i proceed to ordering part(s) and taking on the daunting task (i assume) of separating the manifold to the block. In addition, there is a pretty noticeable smell of fumes and steady stream of Fumes coming form the exhaust manifold side (duh). After the engine is warmed up (needle not moved yet) the sound goes away, and its back to the normal "Dura-tick" and nothing more. My co-workers joke that there's a lawn-mower engine under the hood. Symptoms: The main one is After the car has been sitting for awhile The car sounds like for about 30-45 seconds. If you’ve been hearing a ticking sound coming from the exhaust, then the exhaust manifold may be leaking. Anywhere that your exhaust system has been compromised will emit a loud. So with that, eventually, out of the way I'll be in position to tackle the next thing on the list. An exhaust manifold leak can cause burned exhaust valves, improper fuel trim as the leak introduces extra oxygen that is picked up by the oxygen sensor, and slow warm-up time which also causes high fuel consumption, which will also cause your catalytic converter to fail prematurely, and the exhaust fumes can easily. This could be due to a rusted muffler, cracks in the pipe, or a leaking manifold gasket. Hitting a pothole can cause severe damage to the underside of your car. Usually, you can hear it when you are just starting the car and it will fade away while you are driving. Getting some low-lows on (FRPP ), upgrading the brakes (rotors and pads), and replacing the rear hubs & shoes. The sound an exhaust manifold leak makes isn’t very loud it is a tapping or ticking sound. I'll be banging out a bunch of To-Do's in the coming week. ![]()
